Green baby

Apologies for the lack of blog entries over the past few months but I've been busy having a baby! So far, little Fred has been dressed in hand-me-downs from his friends Sam and Leo, as well as his big sister, and lots of presents from generous family and friends. 

Babies grow out of clothes so quickly that they are the ultimate clothes swap challenge. After just three months, he has generated two bags full of clothes - some of which are barely worn - ready to be passed on to friends and charity shops. And I am pleased to say, a good percentage are made from organic cotton. Fred is still wearing his Green Baby organic sleep suit (a gift from a kind fashion editor friend) and he has a wonderfully soft organic cotton blanket, a pair of Fairtrade Pima cotton booties, and he is looking really quite resplendent in his rainbow stripy top and slouchy pants from the Gap's new (and very savvy) organic cotton range.

More news to follout about Fred's progress in the world of ethical clothing (and I'll fill you in on the whole nappy dilemma too). But I just wanted to say I'm still here and back on the blog.

Hi - I hope you don't mind me contacting you on your blog (which is great incidentally) but i am writing a web mag for seaviewsonly.com for my friends Sue and Tim. We live in Bridport and another friend Veronica Hudston said she hired her lovely house to you at eype this summer. Veronica is notoriously bad with names etc so apologies if it is not you. However, if it is, would you mind giving me a few lines about the joy of staying by the sea that i could put in the mag, which is due to go live next month? the website is a bit of a passion for us at the moment (rather than earner!) but we all live by the sea and want it to work. Hi Ros,
Yes it was me! We had a really wonderful time at Veronica's house which I found on seaviewsonly.com which I think is a brilliant idea for a website! I was looking for a house with a seaview and what better place to fine one! The house is really special and must have a quite unique view of both rolling Dorset countryside and sea. The weather was of course, rubbish, but we invested in one of those tents that keeps the wind at bay, anchored it to the ground with lots of big stones and brazened it out each day until it was time for afternoon tea and scones and clotted cream each afternoon. The beaches are beautiful and the kids had a glorious time. They had three days on a sailing course at the National Sailing School in Weymouth (although two of the days were too windy to go out on a boat!), joined a fossil hunting walk and actually found some ammonites, and enjoyed collecting shells and pebbles the rest of the time. I don't want to say too much because I worry that the secret will be out and the beaches will be crowded and we'll have to queue for our cream teas next year. Because of course, we are already planning to return for more fun - come rain or shine - next year.
